Industry visit: Ant Sang

06.08.2015

Ant Sang (Dharma Punks and Shaolin Burning graphic novelist, character designer on the Bro’ Town series) gave a presentation for the First Year Bachelor students, timed to coincide with an in-depth study of mythology and its influence on popular culture.

Ant gave a visually engaging presentation reinforcing a range of principles practised across the various papers on the Degree, e.g. the role of structure for narrative, the place of research and inspiration, the use of journal notes in the creative process, character design turn-arounds, shape language, and ongoing concept development etc.

His graphic novel Shaolin Burning is an assured work bringing together the intersection of myth, history and personal invention, and the benefit of having an author and practitioner, like Ant, on-site is to be able to engage directly with him about the artistic process and gain valuable insight.
